When exploring the Arctic, you’ll meet the Sami people and learn about their rich traditions and culture through our close partnership with a local Sami camp, ensuring an unforgettable day.

This tour includes a reindeer sledding and a Sami culture lecture at their camp. During this experience, you also have a chance to feed the herd of around 200 reindeer. We love the nature and the animals that live here, this is a unique way to get really close with the reindeer and you actually are allowed to feed them from your own hands, with more than a hundred reindeer that are very happy to see you, thus this quickly becoming a fun experience.

We then gather inside the “Lavuu” (Sami tent) for a hot traditional meal and listen to stories about Sami culture & history. The true Sami experience wouldn’t be complete without the opportunity to enjoy the traditional Sami form of vocal music known as Joik.

Overnight in Lavvo and Reindeer Sledding

Try reindeer sledding, the oldest means of transportation in the north. After the ride instead of heading back to the city centre where you might miss a late-night dance from the Aurora, stay on in this good location in a traditional Sami lavvu (tent), sleeping on reindeer skins in winter-insulated sleeping bags, maybe make a campfire, eat traditional Norwegian food and enjoy an exciting dance of northern lights. The location has little artificial light and excellent conditions to look for them. While there’s no guarantee that the northern lights will appear at any given time, if you are lucky enough to see them, it’s an experience that will live with you forever.
