Annapurna Base Camp Trek or also called Annapurna Sanctuary Trek takes you to one of the most popular trekking trails in Nepal Himalayas. In this trek, we drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara for starting the trek. This trail goes through Pokhara-Ghandruk-Chhomrong-Dovan-Deurali-ABC-Jhinu Danda-Nayapul (Pokhara), walking past terraced fields, traditional local Gurung villages, diverse flora and fauna along with amazing views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Dhaulagiri and Manaslu. Mt. Annapurna (8091m) is the 10th highest mountain in the world and this Annapurna Base Camp Trek takes us up to the Base Camp at an altitude of 4,130m/13,545ft.

Day 01: Arrival ~ Kathmandu (1300 meters)

On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from our office will greet you at the airport and escort you to your pre-booked hotel. You’ll have the rest of the day at leisure to freshen up and relax.

Day 02: Drive to Pokhara (827m/2,700ft)

Today we leave early in the morning for a drive to Pokhara in a tourist bus that takes approximately 7 hours. Pokhara is a tourist city in a picturesque setting of Annapurna range above the Phewa lake.

Day 03: Trek to Ghandruk (1940m/6360 ft): (6 hours trek)

Today’s walk follows a stone pathway, and for the most time we are climbing roughly – it can be tough on the knees so bring walking poles. We first pass through Kimche Village before continuing on until we reach Gandruk.

Overnight: Guest House in Ghandruk at an altitude 1940m

Day 04: Trek from Ghandruk to Chhomrong (2170m/7120ft) (6 hrs walk)
Today we start with an ascent before dropping down to cross the Kimrong Khola by a bridge, before making a short ascent to Taulung. We then begin the long steep ascent to join the main trail to Chommrong. The high point above the main valley is a favourite place for soaring vultures, griffons and lammergeiers, providing us with some awesome vistas as we begin the descent to Chommrong (2060m), the last major settlement before the Sanctuary and an attractive place for us to end the day amidst its alpine lodges and scenic views.

Overnight: Guest House in Chhomrong at an altitude 2,170m

Day 05: Trek from Chhomrong to Dovan ( 2,630m) ( 6-7 hrs walk)
Descending to cross the Chommrong Khola River by a suspension bridge, we enjoy some excellent views of Machhapuchare and Annapurna South. We continue to climb steeply, negotiating a trail that leads us through oak and rhododendron forests until we reach a welcome teahouse on top of the ridge at Sinuwa (2350m). The ascent to Kuldigarth (2470m) is then more gradual, continuing through more lush forest to our lunch stop at the Bamboo Hotel (2340m). This afternoon we continue our ascent towards Dovan, beyond which lies the unofficial gateway into the Sanctuary, walking through wet bamboo forest to reach our accommodation later this afternoon.

Overnight: Guest House in Dovan at an altitude 2630m

Day 06: Trek from Dovan to Derauli ( 5 hours walk )
This morning the track continues up past the so-called ‘weeping wall’ and the shrine to the ‘God of the Jungle’, to the Himalaya Hotel (2840m). Passing several spectacular waterfalls which cascade down the opposite side of the Modi Khola, we climb through a bamboo forest to reach Hinku Cave at 3100m. We ascend further until we reach the small settlement of Deurali where we will spend the night.

Overnight: Guest House in Deurali at an altitude 3200m.

Day 07: Walk to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m/13,545ft) via Machhapuchhre Base Camp; Descend down to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (5-6 hours walk)

Starting early morning, today we climb gently through a river bed then over a steep trail over to the mountainside. The hike from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is a bit strenuous. From Machhapuchhre base camp, we get excellent views of the Machhapuchhre (maccha, fish’ and purchase, ‘tail’) along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna. The vegetation disappears on our way to Annapurna Base Camp and the path widens as we enter the Annapurna sanctuary. The sanctuary boasts of a dynamic view without anything impeding the 360-degree panorama. From the base camp, we again get to savour mesmerizing views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks. We descend down to lower altitude at Machhapuchhre Base Camp for sleep overnight.
