Noodles are a staple in many countries, and loved by many more. It’s fair to say that among the diversity of Japanese food, noodle dishes are right up there when we think of Japanese cuisine. Just as Inuits have 50 different words for ‘snow’, so it is impossible to translate the word ‘noodle’ into Japanese as there just so many varieties: ramen, udon, somen to name a few. One of the most popular kinds, especially in Tokyo is soba which are thin noodles made from buckwheat and flour. Soba has a long history, and one can say it is one of the most famous Japanese dishes along with sushi or tempura.

There are many great restaurants which serve soba, and during lunchtime, tourists are making a long line to wait. It would be a great experience to have soba noodles at a famous soba restaurant. But if you come all the way to Japan, do not be satisfied with just eating them; why not make them yourself? We offer you a private lesson for one group at a time, and you can make soba in the authentic environment which real soba professionals use. Specially blended buckwheat has a great aroma, and you can smell it not only when eating soba but also when making buckwheat dough. The taste of soba made by yourself will leave you a great impression and will taste better than any soba you eat at a famous restaurant. One would not find the experience of making soba too hard, but instead a perfect way to get to understand Japanese culture more.
